Knutsford can boast of a large array of community groups and social organisations, to accommodate all.  From toddler groups to our local Thursday Club, there is something for everyone.

Canute Lunch Club Canute Lunch Club is a voluntary group which provides lunch and companionship for senior citizens. It operates twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays), at Toft Cricket Club. A minibus service is available for clients with no transport. The Tuesday session includes social activities, with the opportunity to play cards and other games.  A warm and welcoming organisation, run entirely by volunteers. Cycle Knutsford Cycle Knutsford is a local community group set up with the aim to keep Knutsford a cycle friendly town. The group has grown quickly and now has over 306 members; There is no subscription although they are grateful for a small voluntary annual donation.
Friends of the Heath Comprises of a committee together with a group of volunteers who promote the space as well as help maintain it in a clean and safe environment.

Knutsford Grow Knutsford Grow gardening team welcomes new volunteers. Volunteers can work one or two days, a morning or just a couple of hours a week. Travel costs are covered and refreshments provided.
Knutsford Heritage Centre The Heritage Centre is an ideal place to learn about the history of the town and it’s people.  Knutsford was first mentioned in the Domesday Book, as far back as 1086 and has legendary connections to King Canute, Highwayman Higgins and Henry Royce (of Rolls Royce fame).

There’s a lot to explore with three galleries over two buildings, two beautifully maintained gardens and a well-stocked gift shop. They have an exciting changing exhibition programme, demonstrations, walks, talks and activities.

The centre is ideal for those wishing to call in and take a peek or browse at a more leisurely place.

Knutsford Hosts Knutsford Hosts is the town-wide community volunteering scheme.
Knutsford in Bloom A group of volunteer residents supported by the Knutsford Town Council. Their aim is it to create a floral Knutsford and to encourage local sustainable planting projects in and around the town.
Knutsford Job Advice Clinic The Monday afternoon sessions at the library are currently in abeyance. However, help is still available by appointment. Contact Anne Baker: annevbaker@btinternet.com or 07803 936682, for information or to make an appointment.
Knutsford ‘Royal’ May Day Knutsford ‘Royal’ May Day is the highlight of the town’s calendar and it takes place every year on the first Saturday in May. The procession through the town and the crowning of the May Queen began in 1864 by the Vicar of Knutsford, the Rev. Robert Clowes.

The prefix ‘Royal’ was bestowed on the event in 1887 by their Majesties King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, then Prince and Princess of Wales and Knutsford remains exceedingly proud of its Royal title.

Knutsford Talking Newspaper A free service for those registered as blind or with a medical condition which makes reading difficult.  Provides audio recordings of local news and items of interest.
The Welcome The Welcome was started in 1995 and over the years it has grown into a fully functioning Community Centre offering a wide range of activities, services and support to the people of Longridge and Shaw Heath. It offers affordable, good quality, home cooked meals from their cafe and a variety of free and great value activities to suit a range of age groups and interests.

41Club 41 Club was formed in 1945 to provide a way for members of Round Table to continue their friendships after retirement from Round Table at the then obligatory age of 40.

The full name is “The Association of Ex-Round Tablers’ Clubs” and it forms part of “The Round Table Family”.

58Club A ladies club who meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.  They meet in the Jubilee Hall, Knutsford.  Speakers, outings, events ….. Ring 01565 634863 for more details.
Boothsmere WI Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7.30pm at St Vincent’s Church Hall. Ring 01565 653701 or 01565 632818 for more details.
Brook Street Club Community based members social club based in the heart of the town. Competitive league or social snooker played regular.  Ring 07841 654986 for more details.
Cheshire BSA Owners Club A motorbike club that meets at The Whipping Stocks pub on the second Tuesday and the last Thursday of each month. Time 7.45pm. Telephone 07809 489412 for further details.
High Legh Community Observatory A community of amateur astronomers who in 2014 built an astronomical observatory on Abbey Leys Farm in High Legh, Cheshire.  Their “mission” is to provide an open resource to all and bring hands-on astronomy to anyone who wants to learn our about universe.

Every Friday they hold observing sessions open to the public as well as for specific events such as meteor showers and eclipses and visiting groups.  The group holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month with lectures being given by experts in astronomy and space research. They are held at St John’s Church High Legh – all are welcome!

Inner Wheel The Knutsford Inner Wheel meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Golden Pheasant, Plumley at 7.15pm.  For further information visit the district’s website. 
Knutsford & District Lions Knutsford Lions was set up in 1976 and over the years has been actively involved in a wide variety of community activities and projects in Knutsford and surrounding areas.   The Club has an active social calendar including walks, theatre trips, visits and opportunities for up and coming rhymers (some would like to think they are poets!). Membership is open to men and women of any age (our Club has a similar number of men and women).  Visitors to our meetings are welcome – Contact Us if you would like to know more about what we do or if you are interested in helping us in any way.
Knutsford & District Motor Club KDMC Members participate in a variety of Motorsport activities.

These events vary from small club-level events such as Grass Autotesting and Navigational Scatters up to National Level Stage Rally Events.  In addition, many members assist events by Marshalling.

Knutsford Floral Design Club Knutsford Floral Design Club (formerly known as Knutsford Flower Club) has been established many years and just keeps getting bigger and better.The aim of our club is to encourage the love of flowers & plants and to demonstrate how you can use them in decorative and creative arrangements. To achieve this they hold monthly meetings with demonstrations of floral arrangements by qualified and talented area and national demonstrators.
Knutsford Laughter Club  Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha. Members meet to laugh for no reason… help to improve your health, self-esteem and wellbeing. Combine playful laughter exercises interspersed with deep breathing. Meetings are held each Tuesday at Knutsford Methodist Church, time 7pm.
Knutsford Musical Theatre Co KMTC was founded in 1943 under the name of Knutsford Amateur Operatics Society (KAOS). Since then, they have staged a variety of productions from their very first, The Mikado, to their recent engertic favourite, FAME the Musical.The decision was made in 2011 to change the name to the now known Knutsford Musical Theatre Company (KMTC), to reflect the style of the company. The rehearsal venue also changed to Shawheath Social Club, on Mobberley Road.
Knutsford Ornithological Society Indoor meetings are held on the fourth Friday of every month (except August) currently in the excellent function room at the Jubilee Hall, right in the heart of the Town, meeting up at 7:45pm for an 8pm start. Unusually for Ornithological societies Field Trips are held every month of the year, some lesser organisations get out together only between October and May, some never, but with the KOS it’s real value for your £10 per annum subscription!
Knutsford Photographic Society The society is a friendly, enthusiastic group of photographers who aim to have fun while not always taking themselves too serious. Like minded people, with an interest in photography, who meet once a week throughout most of the year.

The Society meets on Tuesday evenings at 7.55pm, in the Old School Rooms, at the Unitarian Chapel on Brook Street, Knutsford, WA16 8DY.  New members are always welcome.

Knutsford Rock Choir Knutsford’s local Rock Choir is run by vocal teacher Kathryn Davies. A local community choir first and foremost, which is also part of the national Rock Choir network.

The choir meets in the Unitarian School Rooms on a Monday evening 7.45pm to 9.30pm.

Knutsford SciBar Knutsford SciBar is a group with an interest in science who meet once a month for an informal discussion – with a drink – about a scientific or technical topic, led by an invited expert.The meetings are held on the first Monday of each month, unless it is a Bank Holiday in which case the meeting is on the second Monday. Usually there is no meeting in August.

Time: 7.30pm – arrive early to get a drink and a good seat.

Door charge: £2 (free for students and under 21s).

Venue: Knutsford Sports Club, Mereheath Lane, Knutsford, WA16 6SZ.

Knutsford Scottish Country Dance Club A friendly, sociable group who are affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. They meet weekly to enjoy Scottish country dancing and newcomers are always welcome.
Time: 7.30pm, each Wednesday evening, at Knutsford Methodist Church Hall.
Knutsford Star Choir Knutsford Star Choir is the ladies’ choir to be part of if you are looking for a warm welcome, no pressure, good fun and great music.  Each year they raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

The Knutsford Star Choir rehearses every Thursday evening in The Music Room at Knutsford Leisure Centre.

Mereside Band Mereside Brass is a concert & contest brass band based in Plumley, between Northwich & Knutsford in Cheshire; which is led by Musical Director Mike Phenton. The band have performed all types of music around Cheshire including Arley Hall, Tatton Park, Middlewich, Winsford, Buxton and Chatsworth House. They have also toured on a number of occasion’s in Europe playing in the Rhine Valley Germany, Luxembourg City, Belgium and Maastricht, Holland.
Tatton Garden Society One of Britain’s foremost; botanic and horticultural societies, with its own 11 hectare (28 acre) arboretum and botanic site open to the public and which is one of Cheshire’s “Gardens of Distinction“.

Tatton Garden Society was formed in 1962. Its purpose is the promotion of science and research in horticulture for the benefit of the public.

The Tatton Singers The Tatton Singers are a mixed community choir based in Knutsford with a tradition of presenting quality concerts of choral music. Formed in 1976, Tatton Singers are now a well-balanced choir of some seventy-six voices and have a reputation for dynamic music making. Weekly rehearsals enable this friendly choir to successfully present exciting and demanding works.
U3A The Knutsford and District U3A is part of the national network of U3A groups. It is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment, and provides educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.  Skills and experiences are shared in a variety of ways through meetings, and social and group activities.
Vale Royal and Knutsford Ramblers The rambling club runs a coach every fortnight, giving members the opportunity to visit attractive walking locations such as North Wales, the Peak District, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales without the need for a long car journey.

Coach trips pick up from Frodsham, Weaverham, Northwich and Knutsford. At the destinations, four walks are offered of various grades, ranging from leisurely 5 / 6 mile walks, up to long hikes in the high fells. Whichever walk grade you chose though, you will be sure to see some beautiful scenery, enjoy sociable company, and get some exercise, all at the same time.

There is plenty of time for refreshments, and because you’re not driving, you can have a sleep on the coach on the way home.

Sports Clubs

Canute Badminton Club The club nights are on Mondays, all year round and match nights on Wednesdays throughout the season. Members are from a broad range of ages and abilities. Currently, the club field teams in the Stockport, Crewe and Warrington Leagues. They also have a large junior section, with coaching on a Monday night at 7-8pm.
North Cheshire Bowman North Cheshire Bowmen (and its Junior and Disabled sections) is a club of about 140 archers based in Knutsford, just to the south of Manchester, England. It is affiliated to the Cheshire Archery Association, and in turns the English Northern Counties Archery Society and Archery GB (also known as the Grand national Archery Society). It is proud to be actively participating in ArcheryGB’s new On Target scheme for club development, and to receive support from Active Cheshire.
Egerton Football Club Egerton Football Club has a membership of over 500 young players and over 100 adult players, all from Knutsford and the surrounding area.  The Saturday club boasts of over 100 participants aged three to seven.  The club operates 37 youth teams and seven adult.

In 2007 the club achieved Charter Standard which means that the club has met the FA requirements for best practice in training and development along with child welfare and community involvement.

In 2012, we created our first team ground to meet the requirements of the Cheshire League to enable the club to continue its journey to be part of the football league pyramid.

Knutsford Football Club Knutsford FC is the town’s football club was formed in 1888 and has a rich history & heritage with continuous residence on its current site since 1932.The Club is situated on Manchester Road, Knutsford and fields two teams. The First team plays in the Cheshire League Prem and the ‘A’ team appears in the Cheshire reserve league Div 1.
Knutsford Golf Club The Knutsford Golf Club is a not-for-profit, private club owned by its members who come to relax and immerse themselves in the idyllic setting, while enjoying one of the finest tests of golf in this area of Cheshire.Established by Lord Egerton of Tatton in 1891, the challenging 10-hole course is set upon the highest point of the Tatton Park estate, and enjoys far-reaching views over the mature woodlands and lake. As one of the most attractive courses in the north-west members describe the club as Knutsford’s “Hidden Gem”.
Knutsford Hockey Club Knutsford Hockey Club has six teams, three men, two ladies and a junior section.  Visit their website for more information.
Knutsford Netball Club Knutsford Netball Club has five teams and are always on the lookout for new members. If you are interested in joining the Knutsford Netball Club please get in contact with coach Emma Pike.
Knutsford Rugby Club  Their incredible support over the years has created new platforms and opportunities for the club to grow and develop into a vibrant, friendly and fun place to play rugby, bringing people from all walks of life together. It’s a great success and one the club is immensely proud of.
Knutsford Sports Club Knutsford Sports Club is a community sports club, currently with around 550 members.  We aim to provide facilities for, and promote participation of, the whole community in the sports of Cricket, Archery, Squash and Tennis.Cricket has been on the site at Mereheath Lane since 1881 and in Victorian times the site was used generally as a sporting area.

Tennis was played on the site in the 1930s and was re-formed in 1970.

Squash built the courts in 1984.

Archery arrived in 2011 as the North Cheshire Bowmen.

Knutsford Squash Club Knutsford Squash Club was founded in 1984. It is a private club within Knutsford Sports Club and has more than 100 members. It is a non-profit making club run by a committee of volunteers for the benefit of its members, and has four senior teams, all competing in the North West Counties Squash League.
Knutsford Tennis Club A friendly tennis club catering for all ages and standards. Beginners, social players and team players are all welcome. As an adult you may come down as a prospective member on our Tuesday Club Night at 7.00pm and play for a couple of times before deciding to join.  Alternatively, visit their social tennis ‘pay and play’ on a Thursday evening (6.30pm – 8.30pm) – great for those just returning to tennis after a break or moving from beginner lessons to social tennis, this session is free to members, £5 for non members
Knutsford Tri Club If you’re serious about your sport but want to develop your ability in a friendly and social atmosphere, Knutsford Tri Club is for you. The club takes an individual approach to each of the triathlon elements. So if running, swimming or cycling is your passion we have the structured training sessions and experienced coaches to help you move up to the next level…and beyond.

The club is a club for everyone – regardless of ability or experience. If you’re a complete beginner they will help you take your first steps – if you’re a seasoned winner they will aim to help you push your limits and fine tune your technique.

Knutsford Vikings  Knutsford Vikings have a limit on the number of swimmers which can be accommodated in the pool during a session. Consequently, the number of members is controlled carefully.The club has a waiting list has which is processd in order of application date and availability in the appropriate swimming group.
Toft Cricket Club  Toft Cricket Club has been running since 1928 and is based at Booths Park. They have 400 members who are aged between eight and 90. There are three senior sides who play over the weekend and an over 40s team which meet on a Wednesday night. The also run nine junior teams and have a charity side called the Toft Taverners.
